We are Easter People

“We are Easter People and Alleluia is our Song!”
Saint John Paul II, Address in Harlem, New York (1979). Happy Easter!

“You know what has happened all over Judea…”

Hearing Peter recall the events, his unmistakable enthusiasm, his desire to be sure the hearer knows what has happened AND what this means!

“He commissioned us to preach to the people and testify that he is the one appointed by God as judge of the living and the dead.”

And so we know, Easter is not about bunnies, or jelly beans – although bunnies are cute and jelly beans are delicious.

This is the celebration of the transformative event in History. And the Alleluias we have missed throughout Lent resound today in the heavens and on earth.

St. John Chrysostom

O Death, where is your sting?
O Hell, where is your victory?
Christ is risen, and you are overthrown.
Christ is risen, and the demons are fallen.
Christ is risen, and the angels rejoice.
Christ is risen, and life reigns.
Christ is risen, and not one dead remains in the grave.
For Christ, being risen from the dead, is become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. To Him be glory and dominion unto ages of ages.
Amen.

May Easter be an opportunity to renew our faith, and deepen our commitment to live lives worthy of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.

For doctors who feel called to live this faith serving the poor as Mission Doctors we raise you all in prayer today.

For those of you who generously support this work with prayer and sacrifice, we share the gratitude of all the people who have been cared for throughout the 62-year history of Mission Doctors Association.
