Pope Francis Scholarship

pope-francis-scholarshipEveryday, 22,000 children die due to poverty.

Preventable diseases like diarrhea and pneumonia take the lives of 2 million children a year who are too poor to afford proper treatment.

Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the needs of our sisters and brothers around the world.

We Christians are called to confront the poverty of our brothers and sisters, to touch it, to make it our own and to take practical steps to alleviate it.

– Pope Francis

Together we can make a difference. We need to get the word out about poverty around the world. And we need your help.

Please submit an original essay, video, poster or artwork on one of the following topics:

  1. The causes of poverty and how those affect the health of millions around the world.
  2. Our role as Catholics in response to the issues of poverty and healthcare around the world.
  3. How you would solve the problems of extreme poverty in the world.
