Today, we take a moment to honor what we believe with all our hearts: that Jesus Christ is truly present, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, in the Eucharist. It is the heart of our faith and the foundation of everything we do at Mission Doctors Association.
For our Mission Doctors serving in Ghana, Peru, Sudan, and beyond, the Eucharist is not just a Sunday duty. It is essential.
In communities far from home, where the work is hard and the needs are great, Mass and the Eucharist provide a vital source of strength. They remind our doctors that they are never alone and that the hands that heal are guided by the same Lord who sacrificed His own Body for the life of the world. It is fitting that men and women who devote their lives to healing the sick do so in the name of the One who cured the blind, the lame, and the suffering during His time on earth.
On Corpus Christi, we remember that Christ’s gift of Himself did not end at Calvary; it continues, truly, each time the Eucharist is celebrated in a small hospital chapel in the African savannah, a remote clinic in the Amazon, or a parish church anywhere in the world.
To our Mission Doctors, their families, and our site partners celebrating Corpus Christi far from home today—know that you are united with the universal Church in this great feast. You are the Body of Christ, given for the world.
To all who serve and support the work of Mission Doctors, may this Blessed Feast of Corpus Christi renew the understanding that, as Christ is present in the Eucharist, we are called to be his body in the world today.
“Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands with which he blesses all the world.”
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world,
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands with which he blesses all the world.”
St. Teresa of Ávila
