Mission Doctors Association

World Mission Sunday

For all of us at Mission Doctors Association, this Sunday holds a special place in our hearts. Our Mission Doctors serve in partnership with the Church, providing lifesaving medical care and a witness of faith in some of the most underserved regions of Africa and Latin America. Their work is one expression of the Church’s universal call to love and serve.

Each year, Catholics around the world join together to celebrate World Mission Sunday — this year on October 19. It’s a day set aside for the global Church to pray for and support the Pope’s missions, continuing a tradition that began when Pope Pius XI established the day in 1926.
This special Sunday reminds us that the mission of the Church reaches far beyond our own parishes. It is a shared mission — one rooted in prayer, compassion, and solidarity with those who bring the Gospel and hope to communities around the world.

As you reflect and pray this World Mission Sunday, we invite you to join us in lifting up missionaries everywhere — those who go, those who support, and those who pray.

To help make this day even more meaningful, our office would be honored to send you a prayer card featuring one of our mission doctors. It’s a simple way to keep the missionary spirit close to your heart and to remember those serving around the world in your daily prayers.

If you’d like to receive a prayer card, please contact Elise at efrederick@missiondoctors.org.

Together, in prayer and solidarity, we are part of something truly global — the mission of the Church.
