Mission Doctors Association

At Mission Doctors Association, we are always looking for ways to better support the incredible men and women who dedicate their skills to providing lifesaving care in underserved communities around the world.

We are thrilled to announce an exciting addition to our service program: a new mentoring initiative for long-term Mission Doctors.

Starting this year, every Mission Doctor serving on a long-term assignment will be paired with a seasoned, veteran Mission Doctor who will serve as a mentor throughout their time of preparation during the Formation Program and their service. This one-on-one mentorship is designed to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical advice to help our missionaries navigate both the challenges and rewards of serving in global health missions.

“Our Mission Doctors often face unfamiliar medical environments, cultural differences, and the emotional weight of caring for patients in resource-limited settings,” said Amie Garcia, Program Coordinator of Mission Doctors Association. “Having a mentor who has walked this path before can provide invaluable support and help our doctors thrive in their service.”

Having had their own powerful experience in long-term mission service, many of our veteran mission doctors feel the urge to maintain a connection to mission work; this will be one of the ways veteran mission doctors’ service can continue after they return home. Mentors will offer guidance on clinical practices, cultural adaptation, spiritual care and personal resilience, ensuring that every Mission Doctor feels prepared and supported.

This program not only strengthens our missionaries’ professional skills but also nurtures a deeper sense of community and shared purpose within our global network.

We are grateful to our veteran Mission Doctors who generously give their time and experience to guide and inspire the next generation of missionaries. Their dedication embodies the heart of our mission: providing compassionate, Catholic healthcare wherever it is needed most.

We are also deeply grateful to our donors, whose generosity makes programs like this mentoring initiative possible.

Your support not only equips Mission Doctors with the training and guidance they need but also strengthens their ability to provide compassionate, lifesaving care to communities in need. Thank you for being an essential part of this mission—you truly make a global impact.
