Are you a Catholic physician, dentist, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner who has felt a call toward serving in medical missions, but wonder where to begin?
Â
The Mission Doctors Retreat/Seminar is designed to help you prayerfully and practically explore that call.
Â
Taking place April 17-19, 2026, at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, this weekend offers time to step away from the busyness of daily life and reflect on how your professional skills can serve those most in need around the world.
Â
A Weekend of Faith, Community, and Discernment
Over the course of three days, participants will:
- Learn from experienced Mission Doctors who have served in hospitals and clinics across Africa and Latin America.
- Participate in prayer, reflection, and Mass, creating space to listen deeply to where God may be calling.
- Explore practical considerations, including licensing, living conditions, and the support Mission Doctors provides before, during, and after service.
- Meet others who share your faith and commitment to healing, forming lasting connections with like-minded Catholic healthcare professionals.
A Unique Opportunity to Explore Your Call
Whether you’re just beginning to consider serving abroad or have felt this call for years, the Retreat/Seminar provides a supportive environment to ask questions, hear stories from the field, and discern your next steps.
Many of our long-term and short-term Mission Doctors began their journey here — by taking time to listen, learn, and open their hearts to God’s invitation.
