Immaculate Conception

Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you
(Luke 1:28)

These words of the Archangel Gabriel to Mary help us know the unique gift Mary was given.

As we celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception we celebrate Mary, the daughter of St. Joachim and St. Anne, and the mother of our savior Jesus.

We celebrate God’s love for Mary who was gifted with sanctifying grace from the moment of her soul’s conception, grace that was the gift to the woman who would become the Mother of Jesus.

We too have been gifted, at the moment of our baptism, with this sanctifying grace.  And we do not receive this grace for ourselves alone.  We are called to share this grace, this love, with others.

Our founder, Msgr. Anthony Brouwers, was ordained on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception in 1938, and he had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. This year, in our 60th Anniversary year, Mission Doctors will be commissioning two young doctors to serve for the next three years in Ghana. Dr. Robyn and Dr. Brian Jennings will stand before the community at St. John the Evangelist in Los Angeles and commit to serve as Mission Doctors in the Diocese of Ho, providing their professional skills and living their faith as a young family.

We ask everyone, on this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, to remember the Jennings Family as we bless, and send them forth to share the love of God with the people of Ghana.

Elise Frederick
