Because of Easter we can pray:
“I look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen!”
The past few years we have said good bye to many friends of Mission Doctors Association. I guess this should be expected with an organization about to turn 60. Many of the women who founded our Auxiliary, some of the doctors who were among those who originally met with Msgr. Brouwers to create an organization that would make it possible for Catholic Doctors to respond to their faith with international service, have already made their journey from this life to the next. With each one’s passing we are reminded that because of Jesus Resurrection death is not were life ends.
Because of Easter we can believe:
Death has no power over Jesus, because he is risen.
All that He has He shares with us: His Father, His mother, His Spirit, His body, blood, soul, and divinity, and even His risen life.
Because of Easter we can be filled with joy:
Pope Francis said, “Let this experience imprinted in the Gospel, be imprinted in our hearts and in our lives. Let the joyous wonder of Easter Sunday radiate through our thoughts, looks, attitudes, gestures and words …”
Let this joy be reflected in how we care for those close to us and all people. May be we be forgiving, let us tend to the needs of our neighbors, may we reflect what it truly means to be a follower of Jesus.
Because of Easter we need not fear.
“It is I; do not be afraid.”
For all the challenges in our lives, for all the good byes, for all we are called to do may, Easter live in our hearts so that we will face all knowing we are never alone, and we need not fear.
Because of Easter we are sent out:
“And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’ ”
For some this will mean literally packing the bags and heading out as our Mission Doctors do, for others it is proclaiming the gospel among our families, our communities by living lives that reflect God’s love for all.
