In several short months, Mission Doctors Association will gather with friends and supporters for the Heart for the World Gala on February 14, 2026. The evening promises to be filled with joy, hope, and a celebration of the lifesaving work made possible through your generosity. But before the first guest arrives at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Center, a lot of heart and hard work goes into making this special night a reality.

Behind the scenes, our staff and volunteers are busy with every detail—from choosing the menu to curating auction items that will inspire a little friendly bidding. The silent auction alone takes months of preparation, with donations arriving from generous businesses and individuals who want to support Catholic doctors serving in mission hospitals. Our team carefully photographs and describes each item, preparing for the online auction that will open February 6 and run through February 16.

Another key part of the gala is sharing stories from the field. We work closely with mission doctors to highlight the patients whose lives have been touched by their care. These stories remind us all why we gather: to extend healing, hope, and God’s love to communities around the world.

There are also countless little details—designing programs, arranging seating, testing technology, and even finding just the right flowers—that make the evening feel special. None of this would be possible without our dedicated volunteers, who give their time and talents to ensure every guest feels welcome and every moment shines.
