We are an Easter People and Alleluia is our Song!
St. Augustine may never have actually used these exact words, but he preached often about Easter and the Easter Alleluia. He said that it is our defining song, the song that we will sing forever in paradise! And it is a song that our lives can sing for us!
The fast from the Alleluia during Lent makes this song of praise almost burst forth from us. Christ is risen, and has made the promise to us that we too shall live forever. What else can we say as we are filled with joy, but Alleluia!
Saint John Paul II wrote “We are not looking for a shallow joy but rather a joy that comes from faith that grows through unselfish love that respects the “fundamental duty of love of neighbor, without which it would be unbecoming to speak of Joy”.
Our lives sing this Alleluia for us as we serve and love unselfishly. This is the joy that comes from faith, the joy that fills our hearts and bursts forth in song on Easter morning: We are an Easter People and Alleluia is our Song! May our lives reflect this faith and joy!
We are so very grateful to all our partners in this Mission of Healing! From all of us at Mission Doctors, we wish you a joyful Easter!
