Since 1986, the third Monday of January has been set aside as a Federal holiday to celebrate and honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.
There is so much that can be said, so much that can be quoted. Yet I hope we can take time today to pause and read his own inspiring words from August 28, 1963:
As a Baptist Minister, Noble Peace Prize winner and civil rights leader who fought for justice and equality, he called us all to dream too of a world where all are recognized as created in God’s image.
May we all work to live to this high calling as we make choices to care for our sisters and brothers everywhere.
